Yep, I’m about to do this. I’m about to go where no other human has ever gone. I’m about to say what no other human has ever even THOUGHT.

Adam Lambert is not THAAAAT good.

I’m going to pause for a bit while everyone recovers from hearing a statement so out there, so blasphemous, that it cannot possibly be processed by a human brain.

Now, I know you are still in a state of shock right now, but I am still going to try to talk about this in a serious tone. If the only way you can continue reading is to tell yourself that all of this is a complete joke, I totally understand.

Basically, I just think Adam Lambert is by far the most overrated singer on this season of American Idol, yet everyone I talk to swears he is God’s gift to singing. Hell, my Dad likes him so much that he bet me five bucks he wasn’t gay, even after I showed him these pictures (ok, it was before the pictures, but still). Don’t get me wrong, I think he is a solid singer, has a range that no other guy can reasonably hit, and has one note he hits that even gives me goose bumps. He is by far the best performer, and his confidence and stage presence are unrivaled. But to me it ends there - he is not that great of an overall singer, and at the very least, is nowhere near the singer everyone seems to think he is. I think Danny Gokey, Matt Giraud, and Noop Dawg all have considerably better “voices” than Lambert.

I think Lambert’s performance from Wednesday is what finally did me in. After hearing the judges gush over it, I found myself utterly confused. Figuring that almost all the other mindless peons people I knew out there agreed, I asked what they thought of the performance. I got nothing less than, “I am going to give my first kid to Adam Lambert so he can raise it with his partner” ”If you didn’t like Adam Lambert before tonight, there is no way you don’t after that performance.” I have watched the entire performance 3 more times since then, and I am still shell shocked that people think that was anything more than slightly above average. People are just obsessing over it because, “he did something different,” and looked “nice”, even though it was pretty boring and hardly better than most of the other performances that night.

If I really wanted to get specific with this, I would now insert specific audio clips where I find his voice to be very average/bad, but since I know no one is paying attention at this point due to their body convulsions, I will simply keep that for another time.

Summary: Adam Lambert is a pretty good singer, excellent performer, and gay, but is not nearly the singer that Gokey/Giraud/Desai are.

okay, i agree that adam sometimes doesnt hit the best notes BUT i think that his confidence and stage presence set him apart from the others because no matter what... everyone can atleast remember adam probably more than anyone else even if you have seen the show once... gokey has a better voice, agreed. HOwever, adam looks way more comfortable on stage than anyone, and that really gives him the IT factor i guess you would say.... he's totally gay, but i dont care, i still have a crush on him. Matt giraud is one word : forgettable (as my dad would say)... and i think adam looks hot in make up and drag most of the time....

Whether or not Adam Gaybert sucks is not important. Ok everyone loves him. whooptie do! What I feel the bigger issue here is the fact everyone loves American Idol. The show is so (for lack of a better word) GAY. Oh hey lets watch people who can sing around the country and try to make them famous and while we're at it have three (oh wait apparently there's four now) assbags judge the competition. I have a lot more to say, but who cares, one thing is for certain, American Idol sucks total balls and is an insult to musicians.

thank you. the thing about it is that yes, he can sing very high, but why does he have to do it in every fucking song. its so ridiculously self indulgent. and the judges always criticize other contestants for that, but not fagbert. not to mention the fact that his tone when he sings in his upper register his tone is really awful. earlier this season they compared him to jeff buckley. the problem with that is that although lamberts range is comparable to buckleys, jeffs tone in his high falsetto was pure and beautiful, and lamberts is just shrill and shreaky and weird because he for some reason feels the need to stick his tongue out when he sings. fucking bizarre how much acclaim hes getting. oh yeah, and also, its so fucking contrived. none of his performances are emotionally delivered, theyre all theatrical and over-the-top. he doesnt write these songs, he just makes gay sexy eyes at the camera and sings breathy and dramatically. really ridiculous.

Ha! I don't normally "hate" on people Mr. Haterade, but I have to totally agree. I dislike Adam for the exact same reasons you do. I just searched online to see if I was the only fucking person in the world that didn't think this guy is legit! I was really starting to have a crisis within myself for my tastes in a performer after all of the gushing this freak has gotten. Thank you for the reassurance! No tone, no soul, no true emotions. Its like ice picks in the ears when this guy sings, and yea, how over the top and self indulgent is it that he has to scream up every song just because he can!?!?! Thats one of the main reasons I have no respect for the guy...

I completely agree. I think Adam Lambert is way too over-publicized. I believe the show, this season, is rigged. The judges just happen not to ever have a bad comment for Adam, what is up with that? Paula pegged him as the winner from the beginning. He REALLY is NOT THAT GOOD. His performances are way over the top, and his singing is always way to high, it gives me a headache because it is that screechy. I don't know, but I am definitely not an Adam fan. Also, he is definitely a goth-version of Joe Jonas, which would also give him a lot of votes. It's crap. This is a singing competition, not a beauty contest. He needs to get over himself. The judges, and this show, are giving him a big head. Again, he is not that good.

Just for the record, I totally think he sucks. I hate all his falsetto screeching, and since that is all he does, week in and week out...he sucks big time. Chris, or Kris, (I don't know how he spells his name) is a much better vocalist. The end.

I HATE ADAM! He's a good singer, but what's up with him not being able to make it in the music business when he's been in L.A. for so long? Maybe because he's weird? Maybe because he wears more makeup than that lady on the Drew Carey show from the 90s? Maybe because he shows man-cleavage and dyes his hair black (with blue highlights) and wears eyeliner and nail polish and tight pants that show his panty lines? I think he should just go for a sex change and be done with it. And I hate his fake humility and gratitude. He expects praise and eats it up. He does screech too much and he does stick his tongue out when he thinks he's really rockin out. Thanks for posting this anti-adam tirade, even though the pics of the boy-on-boy makeout sesh were disgusting and horrifying.

ps: for the record, I will be buying Danny's and Kris's albums whenever they come out.

I'm so glad to hear people speak the truth about this subject for once. This year there really are several very talented people, although a lot of bad song choices all around make it difficult to tell which are which from week to week. I was actually impressed with his "Tracks of My Tears" cover on MoTown week, primarily because he showed that he is capable of restraining himself, singing within his range, and even perhaps being "real" momentarily, rather than prancing around and posing and essentially getting off on himself while shrieking.

I 100% AGREE WITH YOU!!!!!!!! I don't think that you could've hit it more on the head!!!! He is a great performer and that is about it. Seriously, if you have to "scream" the notes, that doesn't make you God's gift to singing.

I am also about ready to throw my remote through my t.v. everytime the camera pans around him and he "makes love" to the camera, enough already.

I don't care if he is gay or not, even though I don't believe in his choice - that doesn't hold any ground on my opinion of his "singing" or whatever you call it.

If he wins this year, this will be the final time I watch the show.

Well lets look at the 80's throw back to heavy metal.. Get a grip people.. He is using an old Heavy Metal falsetto.. Rob Halford of Judas Priest gave it to us, then Sabastian Bach of Skid Row ( i.e. I Remember You), Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden.. etc etc..

It is nothing new!! So dont be astonished!!! And never compare him to Freddy Mercury becuz that is an insult.. Freedy had a real voice and could sing.. nobody will ever have that mans voice.

K... so I know my name may be a bit confrontational, but may I point out that Adam has never once hit an off-key note in any of his live performances; yes, he may sing really high, but it's not indulgent(to the moron who said that) it's because that is where his range hits(he is a tnor verging on counter-tenorness, though I'm sure most of you have no idea what that means); and as for all the "high and shrieky" remarks: Has anyone here ever listened to a little group called Aerosmith? Lambert's style, and high "screams" are just like Steven Tyler's, and if anyone has anything bad to say about him, well, you're just stupid! Plus, how could you not love his rendition of mad world? Danny is a self-involved prick, and Matt and Anoop are ok. Though I will certainly concede to those of you who said it that Kris has certainly stepped into the ring for the last few weeks.

I think Adam can't sing a single note without being completely flamboyant about it. I think everyone else even back when they just got to hollywood could sing better than Adam, and to be completely honest, the only reason he got this far is because he's attractive physically. Who the hell cares what he looks like, this is a singing contest, not who-can-stick-a-microphone-deeper-into-their-throat-without-throwing-up contest. I honestly feel Adam is on the wrong singing show, and I don't really feel that squealing counts as singing.

I agree with almost everything that you said, except I really don't even think he can sing that well. I can't stand anything about the cocky idiot. I think he himself has such a high opinion of himself that he makes watching him even more unbearable. He really needs to wipe that smug arrogant look off his face. I really think that america has gone insane, he sucks soooooooo bad, I want to vomit after watching him and I can't beleive that I have put myself through the torture of listening to him. I do continue to watch him just to see if I can understand the appeal that he seems to have over so many people. I am always stumped and confused after hearing what the judges say. I really thought Simon was a little smarter than that.

Im soooo glad there are people that agree that Adam is f-ing terrible! Unfortunately American Idol has brainwashed the cattle that watch the show into thinking he is something grand. It's because the large demographic of people who watch the show are 14 year old girls who don't have a fucking clue about true, emotional music. It's not your faults though, most of your music influence is derived from watching MTV and listening/watching other programs that have sucked the soul out of music and replaced it with nothing but glamoring, high profile, over indulgent, egotistical, over produced bunch of studio polished crap, and singers who could never record a decent album without todays technology and AutoTune programs that could make literally anyone a "singer" on record.

I agree, he is not that good overall. I have believed from the very beginning that he is who the judges wanted and it didn't matter about how good anyone else was. When I heard that he sang the title song for Randy Jacksons TV show. I am disappointed with this show and do not believe the best wins. If the producers actually only get the bottom 3 picks from the accounting firm that counts the votes, and then they decide who they want off, then what is the sense of voting.

How long ago did the judges decide who they were going to pick to win. Really, think about it, they have been pimpin' him from the beginning. Why do you think he always got to sing last and get the last impression before everyone votes?

The world had one Axel Rose (who had more talent). Do we really need a wannabe?

I am usually spot on with Simon - but this season I just can't understand why all the judges are drinking the A.L. cool-aid. He is WAY over the top with his arrangements and phrasing. He will do fine on Broadway. A huge range does not a vocal artist make. He butchered so many songs this season with BAD melodic choices and screeching. I can NEVER see him being even a remotely successful artist. He'll fade from existance soon enough. All the Gokey fans (like myself) will immediately send all their votes to Kris.

OMG thank you for saying everything I have been thinking (and yelling at my T.V.) for the past 2 months. I totally think Idol is either rigged or the teeny boppers are in love with this gay boy that has a decent voice, that sounds like my nails across a chalk board at times, but an awesome presence and confidence. I didn't really catch too much of the start of American Idol this year until my cousin told me I had to check out Adam's version of "Black & White". I never got the chance to, but I figured I'd check the show out the next week to see what all the hype was. It seems that everyone in my family was raving about how amazing this guy was. So I tuned in each & every week since then & I couldn't understand for the life of me what the big deal was with this Adam Lambert guy. The judges might have well just ended the show when there were 12 left & handed him the title as American Idol, 'cause it's obvious that no one's vote count on this show. Whoever the producers think will sell the most records are the one's they make the winner. Which is a shame too, because Adam isn't all that great. When he keeps his voice in a lower tone he doesn't sound bad, but when he hits those shrill, high notes, I cringe. He dresses like some emo-vampire that looks like if he ever got picked on in school he'd shoot the place up ((that's just a personal opinion, has nothing to do w/ the talent portion of the show)). I can't believe that Danny got voted off. He wasn't the greatest singer of all time, but Adam isn't by far either. When Danny did Aerosmith's "Dream On" & tried to hit the scream at the end, Simon said it was awful. I think he even compared it to eating ice. News flash Simon, Adam pulls that bullshit on EVERY song he sings & all the judges commend him for it. Not every song calls for that. More than half of the stuff he's sang didn't, but he did it anyway just because he could. He's full of himself & for some reason the judges praise him for screaming like a cat in heat. I'll never understand it, but I guess in a world where someone like Fantasia can be considered a good singer & an American Idol, so can this hack. It's not a talent competition in the slightest. The producers took one look at how all the "Twilight" obsessed tweens reacted to this douche bag & said, "He's the one..."

America falls for a guy because he can perform well live i guess i dont get it. If people vote for him people it will be like a taylor Hicks scenario. He has buzz like hicks, but when it comes to his album no one is going to buy his crap. He is different so he gets jammed down our throats, by the judges? The guy IS A GOOD PERFORMER, great for broadway but listen to his voice, Really listen to Adam's voice he cannot sing a song straight and has screams in every song. on an album he will not be able to scream like he does live. pop song writers writing songs for a rocker? His album will be a trainwreck if he wins or not. Did anyone listen to him sing u2 one? its like he tries to outdue everyone because he can scream when the songs he sings does not need it. Kris is talented and they can put out a solid cd, go kris

Thank you, thank you, thank you......I thought that singers were supposed to sing, hold a note without screaming and be likeable. Lambert is none of those things...he screams in every song at the top of his lungs. I would like to hear him sing without screaming, without eyeliner, and without his huge hair and silly outfits.

Yes, yes, and yes. I liked our two finalists this season, however I think that Iraheta and Gokey top Lambert. Allen and Giraud were a bit melbatoasty (you can chew it but it doesn't do anything for you) and forgettable. Having said that, the thing that turned me off to Lambert WERE the photos. NOT because he's in drag, NOT because he's dressed rather...um..."fabulous," and NOT because he might be kissing another male, but his attitude IN those photos - they are for shock value. He plainly stated in an interview that a lot of the things he does is for shock value, to "be himself." See the contradiction? Shock value is being what you know will shock people...and if you're doing something for shock value, then you AREN'T doing it for yourself. And if he is in fact so set on "being himself" then how come his vibrant, dare-we-say "overacted" stage presence is absent during interviews, when he's not performing? Adam is a performer, and he does just that. He doesn't feel and channel the music, he just adds his own glitter to it and shows it off. Humility is important. Someone always will know more than you, or be more talented than you, even if you are more famous than they are. So why be such a tool, in photos AND on stage, just because you can? You're not the owner of your talent, just the manager. The other contestants, I believe, understood this. Especially Kris Allen. He was genuine, through the entire thing. And because he was so down-to-earth, he, as everyone said, flew under the radar. Because the radar is scoping out the self-indulgent pricks who are up in the clouds.

Haters and fans alike make this guy more famous. Whether it's OMG Adam or HATE Adam post, it definitely gets a lot of discussion. I completely understand why there are so many people feel the need to spill their dislike on Adam, it's because their fave contestant doesn't get attention and appreciation as much as Adam does. Even though you people don't like him, he gets noticed more because there are MANY who does like him!!! He is interesting and entertaining. One proof of that is this blog and the comments. LOL. It's all about preference. If he sounds so horrible or irritating to you, OMG he sounds indredibly good to me! He voice is wonderfully perfect! If he looks fake or ugly to you, for us fans he is very, very handsome and damn HOT!!! WE LOVE HIM!!!

I agree 100% with "yeah." Also, you people should be happy that Adam "lost" Idol ...so what's with all the hate, ranting and raving, gnashing your teeth and pulling your hair out on this site? I can practically feel the spit. God, it's effing unbelievable!! And to you homophobics: would you be talking such trash if someone you loved and cared about had the COURAGE to come out to the whole world? You might as well face it: there's no stopping him.
